20th NovDannys first test with WRB

The Ricardo Tormo Circuit provided the location for Danny Webb’s initiation on the Aprilia of the Jack & Jones team this week, as the youngster began the process of fine tuning the bike to his own requirements ahead of the new season.

The test proved a successful one for both rider and team, with Webb finding a very comfortable “feeling with the bike”, despite still carrying some after-effects of his crash in Malaysia.

Webb completed just 20 laps due to the slightly unfavourable conditions of the track, and the 18 year-old was pleased with how things went.

“I like how the team works a lot,” said Webb. “I believe in them and I think we have the best mechanics. I’ve gotten used to them very quickly and this is because they have a great attitude. With some more tests and some fine tuning of the bike, we know we can be fast.”

9th NovDanny signs with WRB for 2010

There was great news for young English rider Danny Webb this weekend at the Gran Premio Generali de la Comunitat Valenciana, when it was announced that he has signed for the Jack & Jones sponsored WRB team for the 2010 and 2011 seasons.

Webb will hope to realise his potential with the successful Jack & Jones team, having has an inconsistent season this year with Degraaf Grand Prix in his third full season in the World Championship. The Jack & Jones team currently have Grand Prix winner Nico Terol sitting third in the 125cc rankings and Simone Corsi was the 125cc World Championship runner-up on their machinery last year.

“I am really excited as this is one of the top teams in the 125cc class, so I can’t wait to start testing and to start bonding with the team,” stated Webb. “Hopefully I can get results like Nico has done and maybe even better and try for the World Championship. Next year I will still be getting used to the team, but hopefully the year after I can really challenge.”

Javier Sabio, Team Manager for Jack & Jones, added, “We decided to sign Danny because of the enormous enthusiasm he showed about joining us and the obvious natural riding talent he possesses. We believe that with plenty of hard work and with a long term strategy in mind, we will get the results we want.”

08-11-2009Danny didn't start in Valencia race due to injury

Randy Krummenacher had a great race during the GP Generali de la Comunitat Valenciana. Almost the whole race the Swiss teenager was fighting for the 4th position and finished at a very good 9th place. Danny Webb couldn’t compete in the last race of the season and the DeGraaf Grand Prix due his broken left and right foot.

In the warm-up session in the morning Randy Krummenacher had already a very good and fast pace. In this session Krummenacher’s lap time was faster than his qualification time of the Saturday and ended the session on a very good 5th position. Danny Webb had to go to the doctors to get a clearance for his start in the race. The doctor said that Webb could try it in the warm-up session and after 4 laps Webb came in. It wasn’t possible to race in this physical condition. It was a very hard decision for Webb not to start especially because it is the last race of the season and the last race riding for the DeGraaf Grand Prix Team.

Danny Webb (DNS): “I really tried to ride the last race of the season and for the DeGraaf Grand Prix Team. It wasn’t possible. I didn’t have the strengths in my feet to control the bike and I got also dizzy on the bike. This is not the conditions you want to race. It’s a shame I couldn’t give the team a good result this weekend. I really enjoined the three years with the team and want to thank all team members. Especially I want to thank Arie Molenaar, Jarno Janssen, Hans Spaan, My mechanics Rob and Rick and Marlon Fluit. They made it possible to race for and I will never forget them. I still will see them in the paddock next season when I will ride for the WRB Jack & Jones Team. See you in 2010!”

07-11-2009Danny (28th) crash out early in qualification session

During the qualification session of the GP Generali de la Comunitat Valenciana the Swiss rider Randy Krummenacher brought his DeGraaf Grand Prix Aprilia to a 15th position. Team-mate Danny Webb crashed out already in the early stage of the session and wasn’t able to continue. Webb will start the last race for the DeGraaf Grand Prix Team form the 28th position.

The morning session was ridden in good weather circumstances without the strong wind from yesterday. Krummenacher used this session to finalize the set-up of his Aprilia. The Swiss teenager ended the session on a good 11th position with only 0,8 seconds behind the fastest rider of the session Sergio Gadea. Danny Webb had this morning less pain on his foot and was able to ride faster lap times than the Friday session. Webb finishes the session on an 18th position.

In the afternoon when the qualification session started, the hard wind was back. After a delay of five minutes the session started and five minutes later Danny Webb crashed. On the TV it didn’t look good but it was for sure that the British rider couldn’t continue the session. After a medical check it was clear that, next to his broken left foot, there was a little fracture in his right foot. Luckily Webb was able to leave the medical centre walking and his a good feeling he will start in the last race of the season tomorrow. Webb qualified in the end on P28.

Danny Webb (28th, 1:44,284): “I don’t know what happened but I do know it was a painful crash! I’m already injured with my left foot but after a check in the medical centre it was clear that I also have a little fracture in my right foot. I just lost the control of my bike and I had the feeling I didn’t went fast. I still can walk so I’m not worried for riding the race tomorrow. After a good night sleep and a couple of pain killers, I try to grab some points in the race.”

06-11-2009Windy first practice day at sunny Valencia

This weekend it is already the last Grand Prix of the season. The GP Generali de la Comunitat Valenciana had a lot of sun today but was also very windy. The DeGraaf Grand Prix rider Randy Krummenacher was able to ride to a 18th position in these circumstances. Danny Webb has to ride this weekend with a left broken foot but was able to ride the one hour practice and ended on a 24th position.

During this session there was a lot of wind and the riders couldn’t ride the same lap times as in the pre season test. Both DeGraaf Grand Prix riders used the session to get a good set-up for the rest of the weekend. British rider Danny Webb used the session to find out how his broken foot would react on riding at the track. Webb has a lot of pain but the good thing is that the pain stays the same the whole session. This means Webb is able to ride the race in his full length.

Danny Webb (24th, 1:44,705): “Today I was curios how my foot would react riding on my bike. It is my left foot and I need this one to shift. The pain is awful but stays on the same level during riding. Halfway the session my foot started to shake and I couldn’t control that! I will visit Dr. Costa later and hope he can do something to reduce the pain. This weekend is going to be hard but I’m capable in these conditions to qualify on the first four starting rows.”

06-11-2009Danny Webb signs for WRB Jack & Jones Team

During the last Grand Prix at Valencia British teenager Danny Webb signed for the top rated WRB Jack & Jones Team for the 2010 and 2011 season in the 125GP World Championship. The 18-year old Danny Webb will join the Jack & Jones squad which has run the highly-rated Spaniard Nicolas Terol in the 2008 and 2009 season.

Danny Webb: “First of all I want to thank the DeGraaf Grand Prix Team of team-owner Arie Molenaar. They have given me the change to ride Grand Prix’ and, looking back to my first GP season in 2007, we made a big step forwards. I had a great time the past three years. I want to thank team owner Arie Molenaar and team manager Jarno Janssen. Jarno really helped me a lot the in this period. I’m grateful for my personal mechanics Rob van de Braak and Rick Vertogen and my friend Damion Bailey which helped me out these past seasons with the suspension and my bike. My chief engineer Hans Spaan gave me the best bike as possible and I have a lot of respect for him. My friend Marlon Fluit will still helping me out the next years and I’m really happy that he will continue with me.
Now it is time to take the next step in my career. I will join the WRB Jack & Jones team for the next two years and I really excited to ride for this team. They are really a great team and I like to ride for them. They have a lot of experience and I think I can have a real change of fighting for the World Championship the next two seasons. I will have my first ride for them in the next two weeks. Hopefully my foot will be a bit better than now at the time!”

25-10-2009Danny crash out in first lap at Sepang

The Shell Advance Motorcycle Grand Prix brought the DeGraaf Grand Prix Team only three points after a very good 8 and 12 qualification positions. Swiss rider Randy Krummenacher was the only rider of the team who scored a 13th position and got three points. Danny Webb crashed out after a good start in the first lap and wildcard rider Blake Leigh-Smith did a good job by finishing the race on the 21st position.

Danny Webb started the race from the 8th position and had a good start. Directly the British youngster was in the middle of the leading group but high sided in the first lap in the hairpin. The race was already over for Webb in the first lap and this time he didn’t made it without an injury. Webb broke a little bone in his left foot but said already he will be riding during the last race at Valencia on the 8th of November.

Danny Webb (DNF): “I’m really disappointed today about this crash. I had a good start and was directly in the leading group. The first lap you really have to push to stay in this group. I pushed to hard coming out of the hairpin and high sided. After race I went to Doctor Costa and it was clear I broke a little bone in my left foot. This won’t be a problem for the last race in Valencia. It’s very frustrated to end the race like this after the good qualification session. I will take the coming two weeks a lot of rest and hope to finish the season with a good result.”

24-20-2009Great 8th qualifying for Danny at Sepang

During the very hot Shell Advance Motorcycle Grand Prix qualification the DeGraaf grand Prix Team manage to qualify on the second and third starting row. British rider Danny Webb manages to park his Aprilia RSA on a fantastic 8 position at the second row. Australian Blake Leigh-Smith manages this session to improve his lap time with more than two seconds compare to the Friday session and finish on a 31st place.

The Saturday qualification went very good for the DeGraaf Grand Prix Team. British youngster Danny Webb was able to grab the last position on the second row at an 8th spot. Webb builds up his speed carefully and picks out on the right moments his flying laps. With less than ten minutes on the clock Webb came to the 6th position. In his last flying lap the youngster was able to improve again but had to give in 2 positions but still will start the race form the second row.

Danny Webb (8th, 2:14,920): “This was a good qualification session. Yesterday I wasn’t happy with my position and not really satisfied with the set-up of the bike. The team worked hard to improve the front and we are going in the right direction. The bike felt good in the qualifying and especially when I went out the second time at the track I had a good feeling. In the last ten minutes I got a new rear tire and pushed to bike to the limit. I manage to ride without a slipstream to the second row. I’m happy about today. Tomorrow I need a good start and than it is possible to finish in the top 10.”

23-10-2009Set-up difficulties for Danny during FP1 at hot Sepang

After the cold weekend in Australia last week, the DeGraaf Grand Prix Team started today the weekend in a very hot Malaysia. During the Shell Advance Motorcycle Grand Prix the DeGraaf Grand Prix Team will compete with three riders. Next to the permanent riders Danny Webb and Randy Krummenacher the young Australian rider Blake Leigh-Smith will compete in the Grand Prix’ with a wildcard.

Webb closed the session on a 22nd position with less than 3 seconds behind the provisional pole position.

Danny Webb (22nd, 2:17,815): “I didn’t have a good feeling with the bike today. I have a lot of problems considering the front. The feeling is not good and it is hard to find the limit in the corners. I had a little crash but this isn’t giving me confidence. We will work hard to get a good set-up and after my front row of qualifying last year I still think we’re able to put the bike on the first two rows tomorrow in the qualification session.”

18-10-2009Great race for Danny (13th) after disappointed qualifying in Australia

The DeGraaf Grand Prix Team has booked good results at the Iveco Australian Grand Prix after a disappointed qualification on Saturday. The DeGraaf Grand Prix riders Danny Webb and Randy Krummenacher started both the race from the sixth row and manage to put their 21st and 22nd into a 13th and 15th position in the race and scored points for the 125GP World Championship.

Both DeGraaf Grand Prix riders had a good start in the race. In the first lap they passed the finish line on a 16th and 17th position after their 21st and 22nd starting positions.

Danny Webb had a good start and passed the first lap on a 16th position. Already in the second lap their was a big group of 8 riders fighting for the 12th position. In the last two laps Esteve Rabat had to leave the race with technical problems and the group was fighting now for the 11th position. Webb struggled in the first half of the race and was riding on a 17th and some laps 18th spot. In the second half Webb was suddenly leading the group on a 12th position. In the last lap the group had a big battling for the 11th position and Webb just missed this position with 0,04 seconds and finished 13th.

Danny Webb (13th): “After the bad start of the weekend I’m happy with this result. I didn’t have so much confidence before the start of the race after the crashes I had during the weekend. The whole race we had to fight for our positions. In the first half of the race I struggled a bit but in the second half I could lead the group and tried to get a gap but didn’t succeed. In the last lap it was a big battle for the 11th position. Shame that I just missed it by half a bike. It was a good race and next weekend in Malaysia I will be battling again for a top 10 position.”

17-10-2009Crash keeps Danny (21st) of good qualification at Philip Island

The DeGraaf Grand Prix Team had a disappointed qualification session at the Iveco Australian. Danny Webb will start tomorrow form the 21st position and Swiss rider Randy Krummenacher will standing next to his teammate at the grid on a 22nd position.

The Saturday morning session was a short session for all of the 125GP riders. After a couple of laps, it started to rain slightly. All the riders waited till the rain stopped. In de last ten minutes of the session the track was dry enough and were able to do some laps. Randy Krummenacher finished this session on a 15th position and Danny Webb ended on a 21st position.

The DeGraaf Grand Prix Team had a disappointed qualification session. Right at the beginning of the session both riders crashed. First Randy Krummenacher crashed out and a couple of minutes later also Danny Webb crashed. The mechanics had a tough job to fix the both Aprilia’s on time so the DeGraaf Grand Prix riders could continue the session. They succeeded and Danny Webb was able to ride three laps and will start tomorrow from the sixth row at a 21st position.

Danny Webb (21st, 1:39,521): “This is very disappointed. This is one of my favourite tracks but every time I ride here it go’s wrong. Luckily it isn’t the race yet so tomorrow I will have to bring the bike of the finish line. I want to thank my mechanics for the great job they did. I could ride a couple of laps of the qualification session and improve my lap time. Tomorrow I have only one goal: finish the race!”

16-10-2009Small crash for Danny (16th) at FP1 Philip Island

The first free practice of the Iveco Australian Grand Prix has brought the DeGraaf Grand Prix Team a provisional fourth starting row. Under pretty cold circumstances Swiss rider Randy Krummenacher manages to ride to a 13th position. British teammate Danny Webb crashed out in the last 15 minutes of the session and finished on a 16th position.

I squeezed the brake to much into a slow corner and went down. I’m not hurt and have a good feeling for tomorrow. We will work hard tonight to find a good set-up and we will be there.”

04-10-2009Mechanical problem keeps Danny out of top 5 finish

The exciting 125cc bwin.com GRANDE PREMIO DE PORTUGAL race has brought an outstanding top 10 finish for Swiss rider Randy Krummenacher. British rider Danny Webb was riding one of his best races of the season and battling for the 5th position before the Brit had to quit the race in the last lap due a technical problem.

During the warm-up session in the morning the weather conditions weren’t as good as in the race. With a humidity of more than 95% and a lot of fog, Danny Webb finished this session on a very good 7th position. Swiss rider Randy Krummenacher ended the session on the 18th position.

British rider Danny Webb had to give in a lot of positions in the first lap dropping down from 10th to the 16th position. In the first few laps Webb got the rhythm and was battling with his team-mate for the 12th position but Webb was able to ride a better pace and came into the top 10. Halfway the race Webb found the group battling for 5th and was changing a lot in positions. In the last lap Webb had a technical problem with his Aprilia and couldn’t finish the race.

Danny Webb (DNF): “I remain speechless! The whole season I didn’t break down in the race and at the moment of one of my best races of the season the bike cuts down. I had a good race battling for a 5th position and the battle was like it was every lap the last one! Unfortunately it wasn’t my day. I need a good result this year to secure a ride for next season. I will give my maximum in Australia, Malaysia and Spain to score top 5 results. The team did really a great job this weekend and I want to thank them for this.”

03-10-2009Top 10 qualifying for Danny at sunny Estoril

British rider Danny Webb made a big step forward compare to the Friday session and qualified 10th. Also Randy Krummenacher made a big improvement compare to the Friday in lap time and qualified on an 18th position.

The free practice session on the Saturday morning both DeGraaf Grand Prix riders were able to improve their lap times of the Friday session. The set-up of both Aprilia’s felt good for both riders. Danny Webb and Randy Krummenacher want some more grip in the rear and the team is working on this. Danny Webb finished the session at the 15th place and Randy Krummenacher ended the session on a 19e position.

The weather circumstances during the qualification session were nearly the same as on Friday with temperatures around the 26 degrees. British rider Danny Webb had a good session and qualified on a good 10th position. Webb had a long first run and was able to improve his lap time from the Saturday morning and was even on P2 in the first 10 minutes of the session. In his last run Webb was able to improve his lap time again and didn’t use a tow of some other rider. After the session was finished Webb qualified on the third row on P10.

Danny Webb (10th, 1:46,442): “It went today much better than the Friday session. The speed we didn’t had yesterday we found back after a great job of the team. The Aprilia was fast again and I was able to improve my lap time immediately this morning. In the qualification session I tried to set a fast lap time directly in the beginning of the session. I succeeded and was even on P2 in the first ten minutes. In the last run I could improve my lap time again without using the slipstream of another rider and was pretty happy with that. My race pace is good and with a good start I can have a very good race. I aim for a top 8 finish tomorrow.”

02-10-2009Danny struggling during first day at Estoril

After a four week break the DeGraaf Grand Prix Team could start their Aprilia RSA’s again for the first free practice of the bwin.com GRANDE PREMIO DE PORTUGAL.  It is a difficult start of the weekend for the DeGraaf Grand Prix Team. Swiss rider Randy Krummenacher had an ok 17th position result in the free practice and British rider Danny Webb didn’t went well with a 21st position.

Danny Webb struggled this session. Nearly the whole session Webb was outside the top 20 but could improve his lap time every lap. Several times the British teenager came in to make adjustments to the engine but couldn’t get a good lap time to finish in the top 15. Webb ended the session on a 21st position.

Danny Webb (21e, 1:48,539): “It didn’t went well today. After three weekends of rest it took me a few laps to get in my rhythm. From the start of the session I felt the bike wasn’t as strong as normal. After the session me and Hans Spaan checked the data and we saw were we can improve. I will have a good night sleep so we can be on it tomorrow!”

09-09-2009Top 10 finish at Misano for Danny

The GP Cinzano di San Marino e Riviera di Rimini 125cc race was one of the most exciting races of the season. In this race Danny Webb manage to grab another top 10 position this season. Randy Krummenacher has been held up in the first lap by a crash of Sergio Gadea and finish just outside the points on a 17th position.

British rider Danny Webb didn’t have one of his good starts and dropped back from 13th to a 17th place in the first lap. Already in the beginning of the race Webb was in a group fighting for a 14th position. After the Blusens riders Scott Redding and Esteve Rabat came in to the pit-lane with mechanical problems, Webb‘s group was battling for a 12th position. In the last lap the two leaders of the race crashed out and Webb finish at a good 10th place.

Danny Webb (10th): “It was a tough race with a good result. It wasn’t one of the best starts I had and lost a couple of positions. Right from the beginning I was battling in a big group. I decided not to lead the group but the lap times were to slow so I took over the lead and the lap times went a second faster. In the last couple of laps I battled with Michael Ranseder and my goal was of course to beat him and I succeeded. I didn’t know it was at the end for a 10th position so I’m quite happy. Now we have three weekends no race and I will use this period to train hard and come back strong. The goal of the last four races is to finish all of them in the top 10.”

05/09/2009Misano qualifying is difficult for Danny Webb

After the extreme hot weather on Friday during the GP Cinzano di San Marino e Riviera di Rimini it was today a little bit cooler. With still temperatures around the 30 degrees it was a hard job for the riders. The DeGraaf Grand Prix rider Danny Webb manage in the last minute to qualify on a 13th spot and the Swiss rider Randy Krummenacher had to accept a 23rd position on the sixth row.

The free practice on Saturday morning did not go entirely smoothly. Both riders still had problems with the front suspension set-up but by the end of the session it went better and better. Randy Krummenacher made a big step and finished the session on a 17th position. The British rider Danny Webb crashed in his fastest lap in the last minute of the session. Webb ended on a 22nd spot.

Temperatures rose above 30 degrees here in the qualifying session so the conditions were almost the same as on Friday. Qualifying was difficult for both DeGraaf Grand Prix riders. Throughout the session, both drivers stayed out of the top 20 and the Swiss rider randy Krummenacher was not even in the top 30. Danny Webb moved forward in the last three and manage to take a second of his lap time and finished 13th. Krummenacher also made amends in the final minutes and came from the 32nd to the 23rd position 2.0 seconds from the fastest man Bradley Smith.

Danny Webb (13th, 1:45,188): “It wasn’t easy today! We have made a step forward in the set-up of the suspension and this felt better. In qualifying it was difficult and I struggled to ride a fast lap time. In the last three laps I was in a group which helped me to improve my lap time. I couldn’t see the lap time on my dashboard but when I saw P13 I was happy. Tomorrow we will make some minor adjustments at the suspension that we can test in the warm-up. I'm ready for the race tomorrow and I try to fight for a top 10 position.

04-09-2009Danny 16th at first day in Misano

During the first day of the GP Cinzano di San Marino e Riviera di Rimini the weather conditions are very hot. With temperatures above the 35 degrees it was a tough job for the riders to race. Danny Webb could finish the session at a 16th position and Swiss rider Randy Krummenacher ended the session at a 26th position.

The heat is not only an issue for the rider but also for the mechanics which are working all day in a tent fully in the sun. Drinking water is one of the first needs for them to stay focus on their job. The first half of the session Danny Webb couldn’t find his rhythm and had problems to focus on fast lap times. After a couple of changes to the engine and the suspension Webb got slowly his rhythm back. In the last ten minutes of the session Webb was showed P32 on the pit board and immediately the speed was back. The British teenager ended the session on 16th position just 1,3 seconds behind the fastest rider of today Bradley Smith.

Danny Webb (16th, 1:46,660): “It is really hot here in Misano! During riding the sweat is coming sometimes in your eyes and that doesn’t really help to get focussed. I had problems to find my rhythm and it took a while to get through that barrier. When I saw the P32 at the pit board I just went flat out and that got me more than 2 seconds. The bike is pretty ok but still we have to find a better set-up for the front suspension. The weather will be much cooler tomorrow so I expect to more at the front.”

30/08/2009Strong race for Danny Webb (11th) at the Indianapolis Speedway

The Red Bull Indianapolis Grand Prix has brought the DeGraaf Grand Prix Team five important points. After a bad first lap the British rider Danny Webb climbed up to a 11th position. Randy Krummenacher had a tough race and crashed out six laps before the chequered flag. Luckily Krummenacher didn’t hurt himself.

The start was good from Danny Webb. Only the first lap Webb lost a lot of positions and dropped back to a 21st spot. With excellent lap times Webb was able to pass many riders and could hold on this race pace. With five more laps to go Webb came trough on P9 but made a mistake in the last lap coming out of the last turn and lost two positions. Webb survives the nearly high sider and scored five points for the championship.

Danny Webb (11th): “I can’t say that I’m not satisfied but I definitely I wanted that 9th position. The start was pretty ok but I lost it in the first lap. It was really crazy! Everybody was passing and hitting each other and I wanted to survive the first lap. I had some catching up to do and I could find my race pace already in the third lap. I passed many riders and at the end I was battling for the 9th position. In the last lap Nakagami past me but I knew my bike was faster at the straight for the start finish line but I was too early on the throttle and nearly high sided. Nakagami and Aegerter passed me and I finish 11th. Next weekend we have the race at the Misano track and I’m going there for a top 10 position.”

29/08/2009Danny Webb (11th) grabs a nice third row at Indy

During the qualification session of the Red Bull Indianapolis Grand Prix the DeGraaf Grand Prix rider Danny Webb qualified himself at a nice third row with a 11th position. Randy Krummenacher didn’t have luck during this session and crashed in the last 15 minutes of the session. Krummenacher couldn’t continue the session and finish at a disappointed 25th position.

After a couple of showers at the Friday session, today it was dry at the Indianapolis Speedway. In the free practice this morning both riders tested a different set-up of the front fork and this was a big step in the right direction. Danny Webb was able to ride a faster lap time than his time of the Friday and ended the session on a 13th position. Randy Krummenacher was even more than a second faster than the Friday and closed the session at a 20th position.

The qualification session started well for the British teenager Danny Webb. In the first ten minutes of the session Webb was leading the pack and could hold this position a couple of minutes. After Webb came in for a small adjustment of the suspension Webb was able to ride consistent fast lap times on his own. In the last ten minutes Webb took nearly a second of his lap time and moved up to a 7th position. In his last flying lap Webb was able to take a tow of Ianonne but couldn’t improve his lap time. Webb closed the session on an 11th position with just 0,6 seconds behind pole position man Julian Simon.

Danny Webb (11th, 1:49,982): “This qualification it is really tight with the lap times. I have to give in 0,6 second to the fastest rider Julian Simon but I’m still at the third row. Last year I was also 0,6 seconds slower than the fastest rider but I could start the race from the front row. But I’m satisfied. The adjustments we made with the front fork give me a very good feeling and I can do more things with the front now and I have more confidence. Also the bike is very fast! At the straight it is easy to pass several riders before the first corner. I think with a good start in the race I can be up there with the leaders. We will see what happens tomorrow.”

28/08/2009Rain spoils first free practice at the legendary Indianapolis Speedway

The start of the Red Bull Indianapolis Grand Prix started sunny but spoiled the practice into he last six minutes of the session.  The DeGraaf Grand Prix riders Danny Webb and Randy Krummenacher ended this first session at a 18th and 19th position.

With temperatures around the 30 degrees the 125cc class started sunny but ended with rain. The riders really like the track and especially the accommodation with 500.000(!) seats at the stands. Danny Webb builds up this session lap by lap. Every lap Webb was a bit faster. In the last ten minutes the British rider wanted to focus on fast laps but didn’t have a change because of the rain which was dropping at the track in the last six minutes.

Danny Webb (18th, 1:52,491): “This is not the result I expected. We worked a lot at the set-up of the suspension and searched for a good rear-tyre for this track and conditions. When we finally found a good set-up and the right tires it started to rain in the last session I went out. It is too bad because I know that these last minutes would be much faster than before. Anyway, it is the first session and tomorrow we have to qualify. I have a good feeling and expect tomorrow to be more in the front.”

16-08-2009Good race pace doesn't bring points

After some tough practices and qualification session the Cardion AB Grand Prix Ceske Republiky didn’t bring points for the DeGraaf Grand Prix riders. Danny Webb and Randy Krummenacher were battling in the same group and end up at a 16th and 17th position.

With a 15th spot at the grid Danny Webb didn’t had a good start as usual. When the lights went out the British teenager lost three positions in the first turn and passed the first lap in 18th position. Webb had difficulties to pass a slower rider in front of him and lost connection with the group. During the race it wasn’t possible to close the gap and Webb had to battle for a 16th position. In this group was also his team-mate Randy Krummenacher and they both had a big fight in the group. Webb ended the race at a 16th position.

Danny Webb (16th): “Exactly it was fun to race in this group today. Especially when Randy joined to group and we were both the fastest riders of this group. The race-pace was good enough to go for a top 10 position but I lost it in the beginning of the race. Jasper Iwema had a good start and passed me before the first turn but was holding me up the first couple of laps and I lost the connection to the group in front of me. That was too bad. During the race I had a lot of chatter in the front but still I tried hard and was able to ride good lap times. Unfortunaly it wasn’t good enough today to grab some points. Next race in Indianapolis we will get for sure pints and I’m aiming at least for a top 10 position.”

15/08/2009Danny starts Brno race from 15th position

The Cardion AB Grand Prix Ceske Republiky is till now a difficult mission. Danny Webb could improve his lap time of this morning with more than one second and qualified 15th at tomorrow’s grid. Randy Krummenacher improved his time of yesterday with more than one and half second but still had to be satisfied with a 23rd position at the sixth row at the grid.

The second free practice of this morning was used by the two DeGraaf Grand Prix Team riders to find a good set-up of their suspension. Also both riders were using different type of tyres so they can make a good choice for the qualification and the race. The results were not good at the end with a 23rd position for Randy Krummenacher and a 25th position for Danny Webb.

It was a though qualification for the DeGraaf Grand Prix Team this afternoon. The British rider Danny Webb had difficulties to ride a fast lap and was stucked in the 2;11 lap times. Because of this lap times Webb was constantly around P24 at the timetables. In the last ten minutes Webb manages to follow another rider and moved up to a 13th position. At the end Webb qualified at the fourth row on a 15th spot.

Danny Webb (15th, 2:10,081): “First of all I want to thank my mechanics for the hard work they did last night to fix my engine for today’s sessions. They didn’t had much sleep but they gave my a good bike today. Today I realised that I miss the session of yesterday. I had to spent a lot of time to set-up my Aprilia in the morning session and still in the first part of the qualification. I noticed when I did my best lap that the suspension felt much better. I think we will have a good race tomorrow. With a good start I think I’m able to score a top 10 position.”

14-08-2009Short session due technical problems during first session at Brno

The Cardion AB Grand Prix Ceske Republiky didn’t start well for the DeGraaf Grand Prix Team. The British teenager Danny Webb had a short session. After a few laps the Aprilia of Webb had a mechanical problem and couldn’t continue the session. Swiss rider Randy Krummenacher had today problems to find his rhythm and finish at a 28th position.

The weather circumstances were good at the Brno track with temperatures of 22 degrees. For Danny Webb the session was too soon over. After running in his engine and two fast laps, Webb came into the garage. After several minutes Webb went out again but just could finish his first lap. Just before the last turn the bike had a mechanical problem. It wasn’t possible to fix this during the session and so the session was over for the British teenager.

Danny Webb (33rd, 2:14,559): “This is the first time this season that my Aprilia broke down. I’m glad that it happened today in the free practice and not in the qualification session. I was breaking into the last turn and suddenly the power was gone. I looked back and saw a lot of smoke and knew that this will be the end of the session. When I came back in the garage it was clear that we couldn’t fix the problem during this session. Tomorrow I have to focus on the set-up in the free practice. I feel good and despite this problem we still can do a good result!”

26-07-2009Crash for Webb at home Grand Prix

After the sunny day at the Saturday qualification today it was typical British weather with showers. The race was split in two races after a red flag in the 14th lap of the race. For Danny Webb the race was short because of a crash in the chicane in the first lap together with five other riders. Randy Krummenacher had a good first race but had an innocent crash and could participate in the second race over 5 laps. The second race Krummenacher finishes just outside the points on an 18th position.

During the first race there was some light rain dropping down and there were some wet spots at the track like the chicane. Danny Webb did not survive the first lap and was involved in the crash with several riders. Some of the riders rode over Webb’s Aprilia and the race was over for the little British rider.

Danny Webb (DNF): “I just don’t have words for this. Again a crash and no points. It seems that this has to happen always to me. Several riders crashed out in the chicane the first lap and some of the other riders hit my bike and I couldn’t continue the race. The only good thing today is that my mate Scott Redding scored a podium. Good job for him! We have a three weeks break now and my second half of the season it has to be better and score a lot of points.”

25-07-2009Tough qualification session for Webb

Exciting qualifying session at Donington Park brings DeGraaf Grand team 4th and 6th starting row The weather was perfect today at Donington Park. After the heavy showers on the Friday today it stays dry and sunny. The home race for Danny Webb isn’t successful yet. In the qualification session the British rider qualified at the 4th row with a 14th position.  De thuis wedstrijd van de DeGraaf Grand Prix rijder Danny Webb is tot nu toe nog niet succesvol verlopen. De Brit kwalificeerde zich op de vierde startrij met een 14e positie. The Swiss rider Randy Krummenacher had some set-up problems and couldn’t be further to the front than the 21st position at the 6th row.

The free practice session in the morning didn’t go good for the DeGraaf Grand Prix Team. The team was struggling with the set-up for both riders. Danny Webb and Randy Krummenacher tried different type of tires and were looking for a better set-up. At the end of the session both riders had to give in one and a half second compare to the fastest rider of the session Julion Simon. Danny Webb finishes at the 15th position while Randy Krummenacher ended the session at an 18th position.

The qualification session has been ridden in dry and Sunny weather circumstances. De kwalificatie werd gelukkig in droge en zonnige weersomstandigheden gereden. It was an exciting qualification session with 14 riders in the 1,1 seconds of the fastest rider Bradley Smith. Also the DeGraaf Grand Prix rider and British citizen Danny Webb was one of these 14 riders. Webb has some difficulties with the two hairpins of the track and will focus of these turns in the warm-up session tomorrow morning.

Danny Webb (14th, 1:38,570): “It didn’t went very good today. It isn’t bad but I expected some more than the 4th row. It is very close and with one tenth of a second I could be on the second row but I’m not. The first three sections of the track go well. In the last section I lose a lot. Especially the last two hairpins I lose much time. We will try to adjust the suspension for these hairpins but I think I also have to adjust a little my riding style for these corners. Still I have faith in a good race because I want to have a good result of course at my home Grand Prix. Tomorrow I will go for a top 10 result and if you look at my lap times it shouldn’t be a problem.”

24-07-2009Rain floods Donington Park in first free practice

At the British Donington Park the free practice started dry but within three laps the showers started. Just like the free practice at the Sachsenring the rain breaks in into o this session. The DeGraaf Grand Prix riders could only run in their bike in the dry spare moment and switch after the running in laps on rain tires. These running in laps were there classification of this session. British rider Danny Webb ended at a 15th position and Randy Krummenacher at a 33rd position.

After ten minutes Danny Webb and Randy Krummenacher went out in the rain. Both riders build up their laps and didn’t want to force a fast lap time in the rain. Halfway the session the rain stopped but the track didn’t dry fast.

Danny Webb (15th, 1:49,125): “Today it was typical British weather. Then the sun is shining and a minute later it can heavily rain. Also in this session today we started at a dry track and a couple of minutes later we had heavy showers. The lap times of today are the running in laps. At the dry track. In the rain I had a good feeling and could build up my pace every lap. I have a lot of confidence for the rest of the weekend and I hope the qualification session on Saturday will be dry.”

19-07-2009Great race for Danny Webb at Sachsenring

De Alice Motorrad Grand Prix Deutschland ended positive for the DeGraaf Grand Prix Team after a dramatic qualifying at the Friday afternoon. British rider Danny Webb rode to a great 8th position and Swiss rider Krummenacher had also a strong race starting from the last row and ended up on a superb 11th position.

The warm-up session started on a half wet track. The track dried fast in the 20 minutes session and in de last 5 minutes it was possible to ride with slick tires. The DeGraaf Grand Prix Team chooses to stay in the garage and don’t take the risk just before the race.

The qualification session was like a little drama for the DeGraaf Grand Prix riders. Danny Webb crashed out hard in the last minute of the session and had to start the race today from the 5th row on a 17th position. With a great start Webb manage to climb up into the top 10 and battle the whole race for a position in the top 10. In the last lap Marc Marquez crashed out and Webb grabbed a great 8th position. After four times no finish Webb strikes back with 8 points.

Danny Webb (8th): “After my crash on the Friday I only had one goal today: finish the race. I didn’t know it was possible to finish in the top 10 but it was even an 8th position! I’m very happy with this result especially after the four race I didn’t saw the chequered flag. This gives me a lot of confidence for my home race next weekend at Donington Park. We have to stay on this positive line and it still can be a great season.”

18-07-2009Dramatic qualification session in Germany

The Alice Motorrad Grand Prix Deutschland did not bring luck yet for the DeGraaf Grand Prix Team. Randy Krummenacher had a technical problem and Danny Webb crashed out hard in this wet qualification session.  Danny Webb will start from the 17th position and Randy Krummenacher wasn’t even qualified but will be riding the race tomorrow.

The free practice session started wet but the last 20 minutes the track was dry. Danny Webb and Randy Krummenacher ended this session at the 11th and 12th position.

During the qualification it was raining the whole session. The tire choice wasn’t difficult for the team and everybody was on the rain tires. Both DeGraaf Grand Prix riders was building up there lap times and went faster and faster. Danny Webb climbed up in the last 5 minutes to an 8th position but one minute later he dropped back to P11. In his last flying lap Webb was much faster and was looking for a front row lap time. Unfortunately Webb crashed out in the fourth section of the track and ended up at the 17th position.

Danny Webb (17th, 1:41,714): “I’m really not happy! Again I had a crash and that is obviously not helping me or either the team. I didn’t went ok in the beginning but I was building up the speed and was improving my lap times. In my last flying lap I went much better and had a good feeling. Three turns before the finish line I had a high sider and crashed hard. Luckily I’m ok but I’m not happy. After the session I saw I was looking for a front row lap time. Tomorrow for the race I have only one goal: finish the race.”

17-07-2009Good start for Danny Webb first day at the Sachsenring

In the Sachsen area in the south of Germany during the Alice Motorrad Grand Prix Deutschland the weather was fine with temperatures above the 30 degrees. After 20 minutes of the session suddenly it started to rain very hard. In the dry first part British rider Danny Webb had a good lap time and end up at the 7th position. Swiss rider Randy Krummenacher had also a good dry session and finished 11th.

The session started under very hot circumstances. Before the session started the sky was getting dark and fro sure it would rain during the session. After 20 minutes the rain started and was heavy. The DeGraaf Grand Prix riders stayed in for more than 20 minutes in the pitbox and waiting what the other riders would do in the rain. With 8 minutes on the clock, Danny Webb and Randy Krummenacher went out at the track. Danny Webb was also fast in the rain. Webb rode a 5th time in the wet.

Danny Webb (7th, 1:29,967): “It was strange in that halfway the session the rain came down. I could ride a 7th time before the rain started but I wasn’t pushing at all yet. My injuries are pretty ok after my crash in Assen so that won’t be a problem this weekend. In the rain I was building up the speed and every lap I could ride 2 seconds faster and ended up on a 5th position in the rain. I have a good feeling and the weather forecast for tomorrow is rain again but I think I can be on the second row in qualifying.”

29/06/2009Danny Webb injures his little finger again at Alice TT Assen

The Alice TT Assen race was a short one for Danny Webb. In the first lap Danny was taken out by the American Cameron Beaubier. Beaubier crashed before he hit Webb in the slow corner named De Strubben. Webb doesn’t blame Beaubier about the crash and also Beaubier came by to say sorry.

After the crash Webb went to Doctor Costa because Webb had injured his left foot and his right little finger again. Luckily his foot is not broken and goes better at the moment with his foot. This will not be a problem for the next race in Germany at the Sachsenring.   Webb injured his right little finger during the Grand Prix at Catalunya. Webb needed a couple of stitches and lost his nail. It went better for the next race last weekend at Assen.

Unfortunately in the race Webb injured his little finger again and went for a check-up with Doctor Costa. Doctor Costa cleaned his finger and put some bandage on the finger.  On Sunday, when Webb arrived back in England, the finger was still bleeding and went to a local hospital nearby his village. The doctors at the hospital noticed that the finger got infected and let Webb stay for a night in the hospital and gave him antibiotics.

Luckily Webb was on time at the hospital because it was close that the infection could course an amputation of the finger. Webb arrived today back home and still have to take the antibiotics but will be 100% fit for the next race at Sachsenring on 19 July.

27/06/2009Bad Sunday at Alice TT Assen

The 79e Alice TT Assen was one of the Grand Prix’ to forget. Both DeGraaf Grand Prix riders did not finished the race. British rider Danny Webb was taken out by another rider in the first lap and Swiss rider Randy Krummenacher crashed in the second lap.

The warm-up session was a bad one for Danny Webb. Sergio Gadea took Webb out in the out lap and the bike was too much damaged to ride the session. Randy Krummenacher had a good pace in this session but finished on a 14th position.

The race was short for DeGraaf Grand Prix rider Danny Webb. In the first lap Webb was t-boned by another rider and injured his left foot. Randy Krummenacher had a reasonable start and tried to connect to the second group. In the second lap Krummenacher pushed a bit too hard and crashed also. The home race for the DeGraaf Grand Prix Team was ended soon.

Danny Webb (DNF): “Today is a day to forget. In the morning session I was hit by another rider in the first lap out of the pit lane. Because of this crash I couldn’t ride the warm up session. In the race I got off a good start but lost nearly the front in the first turn. In the Strubben my team mate Randy passed me and than Beaubier hit me from behind and the race was over. I’m really sad for the team’s home race especially because Randy and I didn’t finish the race. I hope the next race in Germany will be better than this.”

26/06/2009Disappointed qualification for Danny Webb at Assen

The good start of the weekend for the DeGraaf Grand Prix Team during the 79th Alice TT Assen couldn’t be continued in the qualification session. Danny Webb and Randy Krummenacher qualified at the fourth row with a 13th and 14th position.

The Friday morning session went very good for British rider Danny Webb. During nearly the whole session Webb was able to ride lap times in the top 5. In the last minutes of the session Webb dropped back to a 7th position and was only half a second slower than the fastest rider Sergio Gadea. Randy Krummenacher still worked in this session to get a better set-up and could improve his lap times every lap in the last part of the session. Krummenacher ended the session on a 14th position.

The qualification session started good for the British rider Danny Webb. In the first ten minutes Webb was the quickest rider. Halfway the session Webb dropped back to a 7th position and came in for a set of new tires. In the last ten minutes Webb was really pushing but every lap he was held up by slower riders or riders who are waiting for fast riders. Webb has to be satisfied with a 13th position on the fourth row, which he is really not.

Danny Webb (13th, 1:46,278): “I’m very disappointed about this session. I had a good pace and was able to run in the top 5. When I had a free lap I was able to ride fast laps. Unfortunaly there were to many riders who a waiting for a group or fast rider. Those riders hold me up in the last part of the session and I couldn’t improve my lap time which I rode in the beginning of the session. I have a good race pace and I will be up there tomorrow. I’m not worried yet!”

25-6-2009Good start of the weekend during Dutch TT Assen

The 79th Alice TT Assen has started good for the DeGraaf Grand Prix Team. Danny Webb made a strong comeback, after he had injured his right hand during the GP Catalunya, and finished the first free practice on a good 5th position. Also Randy Krummenacher had a strong start of the weekend and ended the session on a 10th position.

With very nice Sunny weather and temperatures of 25 degrees DeGraaf Grand Prix Team home race started well. The injured hand of Danny Webb wasn’t a problem for him and started with very competitive lap times during this session. In the last ten minutes of the session Webb moved up to a 3rd position and tried in the last two laps to improve his time. The English man didn’t succeed in this but still ended the session on a very nice 5th position.

Danny Webb (5th,1:47,277): “I’m happy that I don’t have the pain any more which I had in Catalunya. It is a bit sensitive in the wind at the back straight, called Veenslang? We didn’t start the session strong because we were working at the set-up of the bike. We found quickly a good set-up and after we made the decision to change to different type of front and rear tire, it went much better. I have some slight problems with the front in the double right turn but we will solve that for tomorrow. If we have the same session tomorrow during qualifying I will be happy.”

14-06-2009Tough race for Danny Webb at Catalunya

De Gran Premi Cinzano de Catalunya race was a difficult and tough one for the DeGraaf Grand Prix Team. Randy Krummenacher had an ok start but lost a lot of positions in the first lap and dropped back to P16. Krummenacher had a catch up race and fought back to a 10th position and scored 6 points. Danny Webb had a superb start but couldn’t hold the whole race with his hand injury and call it a day in the 13th lap.

During the warm up session, which started at 08.40 hour, it was already hot with 24 degrees. Randy Krummenacher had a good session and ended the session at a nice 7th position. Danny Webb used the session only to ride in the piston of his Aprilia and gave his hand some rest to save it for the race.

Danny Webb had really a superb start. Before the first corner Webb was even second. After the first lap the British rider could fight with the leading group at P7. After three laps his hand couldn’t hold it any longer and Webb had to give away every lap positions. After 13 laps Webb call it a day and went into the pit lane to avoid forcing has injury.

Danny Webb (DNF): “I tried to complete the full race but I couldn’t do it. Mine had been hurting so much, it was impossible to brake at the right moments. The start was perfect and I could last for three laps and than I had trouble to brake. I have a couple of weeks rest now and I want to be fit for the Dutch TT. During this home race for the team I want to grab a really good result.”

13-06-2009Despite pain third row for Danny Webb at Catalunya

The Gran Premi Cinzano de Catalunya has been good so far for Randy Krummenacher. The good feeling Krummenacher had before the start of the weekend has given him a superb 4th position at the front row. Danny Webb is in a lot of pain but manages to have a good lap and will start tomorrow from the third row at an 11th spot.

During the free practice in the morning Randy Krummenacher wasn’t happy with his 13th position in this session. The front fork setting wasn’t yet perfect it was moving too much coming into the corner. Danny Webb had problems to break proper in this session because of the pain in his right hand. One time Webb was off track because of this and ended the session at the 20th position.

It was difficult for Danny Webb to ride a fast lap in this session. With the pain in his right hand, despite the pain killers, Webb had a very fast lap with just 5 minutes on the clock and stood on the 9th position. In the last minute the riders Jonas Folger and Stefan Bradl past Webb and the British rider will start tomorrow from a 11th position at the third row.

Danny Webb (11e, 1:52,548): “It was a tough day today. The pain from my little finger affects also the use of my right hand. Despite the pain killers it is hard to brake. I saw during the session P19 on my pit board and that wasn’t the position I want to start the race tomorrow. I focussed on one fast lap and tried not to think about the pain and I manage to grab the third row. I’m very happy with this result and I hope to finish the race in to the points. It’s going to be a long race for me Sunday!”

12-06-2009Danny Webb (21st) crashes hard in first session at Catalunya

In the extremely hot Barcelona during the Gran Premi Cinzano de Catalunya Randy Krummenacher made a very good impression by finishing at the 9th position. The Swiss rider builds up the session slowly and improved his lap time lap by lap. Danny Webb had a bad session and crashed halfway the session hard in his third stint and wasn’t able to finish the session.

British rider Danny Webb started the weekend not so good and crashed hard halfway the session today. Before the crash Webb was in the top 10 but halfway the session Webb got a high-sider and wasn’t able to finish the session. Luckily the British teenager has only wounded his right little finger and is able to ride tomorrow.

Danny Webb (21st, 1:54,828): “I really don’t like it that I crashed today! Before the crash it went well and I was in the top 10. I had to test from Dunlop a new tire and I rode the bike like normal. Suddenly I lost the control of the rear and crashed hard. It is a shame I lost some track time now but luckily I only hurt my right little finger. For this weekend it will not be a problem to ride and I’m going for it tomorrow.”

31-05-2009Superb race ends too early for Danny Webb

Till today we had a very sunny and hot Gran Premio D’Italia Alice but today it started to rain. The 125cc race had some luck and was ridden at a dry track wherein Danny Webb with a good start was battling in the leading group. Unfortunaly the race ended too early for Webb by a crash. Randy Krummenacher had a bad start but rode a very strong race and take three points with a 13th position.

The whole weekend it was very nice weather but this morning the sky was cloudy and dark. The 125cc race could be ridden on a dry track. The start of British rider Danny Webb was perfect and went from 10th to 5th position. Webb was in the middle of the leading group and could battle for the podium positions. After a couple of laps Andrea Iannone’s bike broke down and that action split up the leading group in two groups. Webb was leading the second group on a 4th position but crashed out a couple of laps later.

Danny Webb (DNF): “I’m not happy with the result today! I had a superb start and connected directly to the leading group. I felt comfortable and it was fun to do the slipstream fights. My Aprilia is so fast so I knew I could stay with them. Unfortunaly Iannone broke down and that split up the group. I could lead the second group for a couple of laps but then I hit a bump in the track and crashed. Too bad but at least I know I can be up there but need some luck. Next race I’m confident I can be up there again and this time I have to finish the race.”

30-05-2009Slipstream necessary at sunny Mugello

At the Sunny and hot track of Mugello the DeGraaf Grand Prix Team manage to qualify at the third and fourth starting row during the Gran Premio D’Italia Alice. Danny Webb grabbed the 13th position and Krummenacher rode his Aprilia to a nice 13th position at the fourth row.

The second free practice this morning was a good one for the DeGraaf Grand Prix Team. Danny Webb and Randy Krummenacher ended this session on a good 8th and 9th position. This result gave hope for the team to hold on this positions or even better in the afternoon qualification.

It’s all about slipstreaming at the high-speed track of Mugello. In the thirst half of the session Danny Webb tried to get a good race pace and concentrate at the second half of the session to catch a good slipstream at the long straight. One time Webb had a perfect slipstream and manages to set his fastest lap time in that lap. In the last ten minutes Webb waited for another slipstream but couldn’t find a good one. In his last lap of the session Webb had a good tow of Nicolas Terol but this time Terol wasn’t so fast and Webb couldn’t improve his lap time. The British teenager will start tomorrow from the third row of the 10th position.

Danny Webb (10th,1:59,478): “I’m not really happy with the 10th position of today. I can do better but now days it is very important not only to ride fast laps but also how you tactical build up a session. I tied to hook up several times to get a good tow at the straight but only once it was a really good tow and gave me a fast lap time. The other try’s to get a tow the rider in front of me got off the throttle and I lost a lap. In the last lap of the session I was together with Nicolas Terol but unfortunaly he wasn’t as fast as I thought and I couldn’t improve my lap time. Tenth position is not so bad and with a good start I can hook up with the leading group.”

29-05-2009Webb starts with provisional 4th row at Mugello

The fifth Grand Prix of the season started today under sunny and warm circumstances.  The Gran Premio D’Italia Alice brought British rider Danny Webb a 13th position in the first free practice. Swiss rider Randy Krummenacher was only half a second slower than his teammate and ended on a 16th position.

The DeGraaf Grand Prix Team used the one hour free practice to create a good basic set-up. For the riders Danny Webb and Randy Krummenacher it went ok to find a good set-up and were able to ride competitive lap times. Danny Webb had a good session and was nearly all the session in the top 10. In the last minutes Webb dropped to a 13th position. Randy Krummenacher tried to get into the top 10 and nearly succeeded but at the end he was on the 16th spot.

Danny Webb (13th,2:00,959): “It went all right today. I have a really good feeling and the bike is good. The set-up was pretty ok in the beginning and it went better and better. It is too bad that the position doesn’t tell you it went good. During the whole session I was able to ride in to the top 10 and even top 5 halfway the session. In the last ten minutes I tried to ride a faster lap but I had a big moment in my fast lap. Even the laps after this there were something going on at the track and I was not able to improve my lap time. My ideal time is half a second faster and that gives me a good feeling for tomorrow’s qualification. I’m aiming tomorrow for the first two rows.”

17/05/2009Bizarre race in Le Mans delivers no points for Danny Webb

The Grand Prix of France was a real battlefield for the 125cc riders. There were 30 registrations of crashes and several riders crashed two or three times this race. Also Randy Krummenacher crashed three times but manages to finish the race and scored his first point of the season. Danny Webb crashed already early in the race and couldn’t continue the race.

The warm-up session in the morning was a good session for the DeGraaf Grand Prix riders. The track was dry and Danny Webb had an excellent session and finished on a 5th position. Randy Krummenacher had also a good session and was till the last few minutes in the top 10 but ended on a 15th spot.

Half an hour before the start of the race it started slightly to rain. On the grid it was already serious rain. Danny Webb had again a good start and tried not to push in the first chicane and was 10th in the first lap. The race was short for the little British teenager and crashed in the fourth lap. Unfortunaly the clip-on and foot rest was broken and the race was over for him.

Danny Webb (DNF): “I’m not happy with this race. I wasn’t already happy that it started to rain because I knew the track will be very slippery in the wet. I tried to build up the race and than suddenly the rear was passing me without a warning. I wasn’t even on the throttle! I tried to continue but the Aprillia was too much damaged and I had to finish the rave. It was a shame but in Mugello I will be on it.”

16/05/2009Danny Webb on third row at Le Mans

The qualification session of the Grand prix of France was exciting today. The session started at a wet track but was dry enough for slicks tires in the last 10 minutes. British DeGraaf Grand Prix rider Danny Webb manage to reach the 10th position and Swiss teammate Randy Krummenacher did well with a 17th position

Again it is a weekend with unpredictable weather. In the second free practice on the Saturday morning the session started on a wet track and there was a dry line in the last 8 minutes. In the wet Danny Webb was good for a top 5 position and Randy Krummenacher was into the top 10. When there was a dry line both DeGraaf Grand Prix riders decided to stay on the wet tires. At the end it was not the right choice and the riders ended at the 23rd and 29th position.   In the qualification there were the same track conditions. This time the team and the riders made the right choice and in the last 7 minutes Danny Webb and Randy Krummenacher they had slick tires. Unfortunaly halfway the session both riders crashed but manage to reach the pit box with their bikes. After a fast job of the mechanics both riders could continue the session. Danny Webb qualified on a good 10th position and Randy Krummenacher had an ok 17th starting position. Also to mention, 12 riders are not official qualified and we have to see tomorrow if these riders are allowed to race.

Danny Webb (10th,1:49,439): “It was a weird day today. This season the weather circumstances are a big issue. In the morning session it was wet but in the last part dries enough for slicks. I made the wrong choice for the wet tires and end up at the bottom of the timesheets. In the qualification we made the right choice in the same conditions and manage to get the 10th starting position. I’ve been held up in the last lap and lost at least half a second but the third row is ok. Tomorrow I want to continue to finish in the top 10.”

14/05/2009Danny Webb searching for grip in FP1 Le Mans

The extra time in the Friday practice which started from this Grand Prix in Le Mans, didn’t brought yet the result the riders were hoping for. Danny Webb ended the session on a 16th position and teammate Randy Krummenacher ended on a 19th position.

After the rain on Thursday night, the track was still wet in the first 20 minutes of the one hour session. But the sun was already shining and the track dried very fast. Most of the riders used the rain tyres and were running in the engine and came after this into the pit box to switch to slick tires. Danny Webb missed the first part of the practice because of a small technical problem. In this case it wasn’t a problem this time because Webb could directly go out on slick tires and didn’t lose so much time.

Danny Webb (16th,1:47,252): “This wasn’t the best practice we had this season. The extra time we got was already gone because of the track conditions but this was ok for me. We had a small technical problem and when we solved it I could immediately switch to slick tires after a got a tip of my teammate Randy. I wasn’t really in a good rhythm this session. I have a good feeling and have a lot of confidence. Tomorrow we continue to work at the set-up of the bike and for sure it will go better than today.”

03-05-2009Danny Webb scores good points at Jerez

The 125cc race of the Gran Premio bwin.com De España has given the deGraaf Grand Prix Team the second top 10 finish in a row. The British rider Danny Webb couldn’t connect with the Group in front of him but still manage to take a 8th position. Randy Krummenacher finisht on a 17th position and just lost the fight for the points.

Both DeGraaf Grand Prix riders had a good start. Danny Webb was closed up in the first turn and felt back to the 10th position. In the same lap Webb was able to connect to the leading group. The other British rider Bradley Smith already left the rest of the field and had a gap of over 10 seconds halfway the race. Webb tried to keep the connection to the group. The little Brit had problems to pass the Swiss rider Dominique Aergerter and when he did the group had a big gap. At the end Webb was able to hold the 8th position and scored valuable points for the championship.

Danny Webb (8th): ‘It was a though race today. There was still a strong wind and I tried to get the maximum out of the Aprilia. The engine was very strong but I didn’t had the grip in the rear what I wanted. I tried to hold on with the group in front of me but I had difficulties to pass Aergerter and took too much time. By the time I passed him the gap was to big to close. At the end I finisht 8th and scored good points for the championship. We are getting there and I’m confident that I can battle for a top 5 position in the future.”

02-05-2009Danny Webb grabs second row at Jerez

On the Saturday of the Gran Premio bwin.com De España it was all about the wind. After rain at Qatar and Japan, there is a lot of sun but also a lot of wind in Spain. The lightweight Danny Webb was in advance with his weight and manages to grab the second row with an 8th position. Randy Krummenacher was smart in this session and used other riders their slipstream and ended up at a nice 13th starting position.

In the Saturday morning session the wind wasn’t as strong as in the qualification session but still much more compare to the Friday. Randy Krummenacher was the fastest DeGraaf Grand Prix rider with a 14th position. Danny Webb was struggled with the set-up and wasn’t happy with his 16th position.

The wind was so hard during the qualification session that it was hard for the mechanics to hold their light weight carbon pit boards. Also the DeGraaf Grand Prix riders found it difficult to ride with this wind but manage to have both a good qualification. Danny Webb grabbed the second row and Swiss rider Randy Krummenacher just missed the third row and will start tomorrow from a 13th position.

Danny Webb (8th, 1:49,353): ‘This second row feels good. It is the best qualification we had for this season. I’m happy with the progression we make. We not on a perfect set-up yet but we working in the right direction and it feels better and better on the bike. The wind was really extreme today. I had to work hard to hold mine line but manage to ride to the second row. For tomorrow in the race I hope to fight for a top 5 position but it will be tough to get there!”

01-05-2009Danny Webb starts with top 10 at Jerez

During the Gran Premio bwin.com De España today started the first and only session in sunny weather circumstances. The 40 minutes session brought the Young British rider Danny Webb a 10th position. Swiss rider Randy Krummenacher made it in this session to a 20th place.

After rain in Qatar and Japan it seems to be dry all weekend here in Jerez. The temperatures are very nice and was today about 25 degrees. For the DeGraaf Grand Prix rider Danny Webb it was his second dry session of the season with the other front fork. During the GP of Japan, Webb showed the world that he feels good with this set-up in the wet by claiming the first position during the warm-up session and leading the race till the 11th lap out of 20. In this dry circumstances, Webb is searching for the fine tuning of the suspension set-up and it is going into the right direction.

Danny Webb (10th,1:49,321): ‘I’m happy that we can expect a dry and sunny weekend during this Grand Prix. I didn’t have much time yet to ride this suspension configuration in dry circumstances. That’s why we still searching for the set-up which pleases me. We’re going in the right direction and every change brings me a better lap time. I’m confident for tomorrow and will use the morning session to finalize the set-up. For the qualification session I’m aiming for the second row.”

28th AprilSo near, but yet so far for Webbwww.thisiskent.co.uk/sport

PEMBURY'S Danny Webb was just eight laps from winning his first 125cc MotoGP following a remarkable ride in Motegi, Japan, on Sunday.

The 18-year-old gambled on wet tyres on a drying circuit and at one point led the race by an astonishing nine seconds. But as his tyres overheated and riders on slicks gained more confidence the gap soon came down, and he was unable to defend his lead.

Webb eventually finished 11th, but was nonetheless delighted with his performance.

"I'm really happy with this race," the DeGraaf Grand Prix rider said. "I couldn't believe I was leading the race for so long and with this gap. I was waiting for the others to pass me because I was on full wet tyres and a lot of fast riders were on slicks. The track was drying very quickly and I knew I couldn't hold this position. At the end I still got five points. I'm happy with the bike and I think we have sorted out the suspension problems we had before. I can't wait for Jerez."

Webb had been on the pace all weekend in changeable conditions and showed his potential in the wet early on by posting the fastest time in treacherous conditions during free practice. He eventually qualified 13th.

For the race it was a gamble for choosing the right tyres.Webb chose the full wet tyres on the front and rear and it went superbly during the first half of the race.

In the early stages those with rubber more apt for fully wet conditions took off in front with Webb leading by nearly 10 seconds. However, the race didn't have a fairytale ending and he was hunted down by the pack, headed by Julian Simon and eventual winner Andrea Iannone.

26/04/2009Superb Race for Danny Webb at Motegi

The Polini Grand Prix of Japan was a patchy damp track for the opening laps rapidly drying, and the riders took their chances on the changeable weather at Twin Ring Motegi. In the early stages of the race those with rubber more apt for fully wet conditions took off in front with Danny Webb leading. Halfway the race Webb had to let pass the other riders with slick tires but still manage to finish at the 11th position. Randy Krummenacher had a cut slick in the rear and full wet in the front but it started to dry for him too late and finished just outside the points on a 18th position.

The warm-up session was extended with ten minutes because there was no qualifying session at Saturday due the heavy rain fall. The track was still wet but drying in this session and those conditions suited Danny Webb very good. The British teenager manages to finish this session on top of the timesheets with nearly a second gap to the rest of the field. Randy Krummenacher didn’t like these conditions and had no good feeling with the bike and was struggling. The Swiss youngster ended this session at the 29th position.

For the race it was a gambling for choosing the right tires. Danny Webb chooses the full wet tires in front and rear. It went superb the first half of the race and Webb was leading the race with a nearly ten second gap. The track was drying fast and in the 12th lap Simon past the British DeGraaf Grand Prix rider. Now it was important to score some points and Webb did with a 11th position being fastest rider with full wet tires at the track.

Danny Webb (11th): “I’m really happy with this race. I couldn’t believe I was leading the race for so long and with this gap. I was waiting for the others to pass me because I was on full wet tyres and a lot of fast riders on slicks. The track was drying very quickly and I knew I couldn’t hold this position. At the end still got five points. I’m happy with the bike and I think we sort out the suspension problems we had before. Can’t wait for Jerez.”

25/04/2009Cancelled qualification session at Motegi due rain

The Polini Grand Prix of Japan was all about rain today. The second free practice session this morning was wet but it didn’t stopped raining al day and there was more and more water coming out of the sky. The track conditions were so bad that the organisation decided to cancel all classes for today. The combined free practice sessions from Friday and Saturday gives the starting positions for tomorrow. The DeGraaf Grand prix Team will start tomorrow with rider Danny Webb form the 13th position and with rider Randy Krummenacher from the 22nd position.

The DeGraaf Grand Prix Team had a good session on the Saturday morning in the wet. Danny Webb manages to get the fastest time with only five minutes left on the clock. Unfortunaly the British teenager crashed after his fast lap, while he was again faster than anybody else that moment, but didn’t hurt himself. Webb ended this session on a 6th place.

Danny Webb (13th, 2:02,637): ‘After the good free practice this morning in the wet, I had a good feeling for the qualification session. Because there was too much water at the track the organisation cancelled the qualification session. I have to start now from the 4th row and I have a good feeling that I can finish the race in the top 10.”

24/04/2009Danny Webb starts with P13 at Motegi

The Polini Grand Prix of Japan started Friday on the cold track of Motegi. The first free practice and also the last practice of today, Danny Webb was able to ride to a 13th position. Randy Krummenacher made to the 22nd position during this first session.

The weather circumstances are a lot colder than the desert temperatures of Qatar. It was barely 13th degrees at the Motegi circuit. During the 40 minute session of today the British rider Danny Webb needed a little bit more track time to get a better lap time and set-up. Because of a technical failure Webb missed ten minutes of the session. Still Webb was able to ride a decent lap time and got on the 13th position at the timesheets.

Danny Webb (13th, 2:02,637): ‘It was too bad that I had a technical problem in the middle of the session. Because of this I lost valuable track time. But then again, a 13th position isn’t so bad. I had to push at Qatar to get this result in the practice. Now it feels better with the other front suspension. I have faith for a good result here in Japan. Tomorrow I will be faster if it doesn’t rain.”

12-04-2009Danny Webb grabs 9th position in short Qatar race

With an extreme short race the British DeGraaf Grand Prix rider Danny Webb scored a 9th position during the first Grand Prix of 2009 in Qatar. Randy Krummenacher had a bad start and dropped back to a 25th position and almost lost the control of his Aprilia but fight back to 22nd position. Because the organisation red flagged the race after 4 laps the riders gets half points and the DeGraaf Grand Prix Team earned 3,5 points.

Danny Webb (9th): “I had a very good start. In the end this was really good for the race because they cancelled it after four laps. I was in the second group and could follow them easy and had the feeling to ride together with Bradl to the front group. Because of the rain they stopped the race and I finished in 9th position. I’m glad with this result considering the set-up problems we had and looking forward to the next race in Motegi.”

11-04-2009Danny Webb qualifies 13th at Qatar

After a lot of testing and the problems we had with the settings, the DeGraaf Grand Team had a reasonable qualification. Danny Webb missed the third row with less than a tenth of a second and will start tomorrow at the fourth row at the 13th position. Swiss rider Randy Krummenacher missed with only one hundreds of second the fourth row and will start from the 17th position the race.

The free practice of today wasn’t a good one for the DeGraaf Grand Prix Team. British rider Danny Webb finishes this session on an 18th position. Swiss teenager Randy Krummenacher ended the session at the 26th position. Both riders tried this session to get a better set-up for them Aprilia’s and made short sessions to get it better. Between the free practice and the qualification there was some rain drops but luckily it didn’t start to rain proper.

Danny Webb (13th, 2:08,971): “So far this weekend was really hard for us. We had a lot of problems with the upgrade of the forks and chassis. We decided to put the forks in from the test with the test settings so we knew how it felt. I think 13th in this circumstances isn’t so bad. I try to get a top 10 finish tomorrow and I would be happy if I can do this.”

10-04-2009Danny Webb struggling with front fork set-up at FP1 Qatar

Season 2009 started today. It wasn’t the best start for the DeGraaf Grand Prix Team. Danny Webb was struggling with the front fork set-up and Swiss rider Randy Krummenacher didn’t had a fast lap because of a mechanical problem. Danny Webb finishes this free practice at the 19th position and Randy Krummenacher ended at the last position.

For the second time in the history there is a Grand Prix race in the dark here on the Losail International circuit. This new season the organisation decided to cut down one session on the Friday. Now there is only one free practice on the Friday and one free practice and one qualification session at the Saturday. All the sessions are 40 minutes this year. British teenager Danny Webb struggled with the set-up of the front fork. Saturday their will be two sessions and more time to find the right set-up.

Danny Webb (19th, 2:11,410): ‘This session was not good. We have the upgrade kit now for this new front fork but the set-up wasn’t good. I was really struggling in every turn and couldn’t hold the line. We have to work on this and we looking at the data at this moment to get the right set-up. I hope I have a better feeling tomorrow.”

07-04-2009Second test day Losail Qatar

The DeGraaf Grand Prix Team had a successful second test day at the Losail circuit of Qatar. British rider Danny Webb finishes this day just outside the top 10 and was a second faster than Monday. Teammate Randy Krummenacher could improve his lap time by one tenth of a second compare the first test day and ended in the top 15. The DeGraaf Grand Prix Team has some points to improve at the set-up of the Aprilia RSA bikes before the first Grand Prix of the year starts. The riders have two days of rest and than the season start!

Danny Webb (2:08,283): “It was a successful day. I’m happy with the way things went today. We still have the front fork problems but now we reached the point where we can’t get them any better. For the race weekend we have a upgrade for the forks and than the forks should work better. I’m looking forward to the weekend to push the bike harder.’

The team decided to let Krummenacher ride the last combined session and Krummenacher finished at the 10th position in this session.

Danny Webb (2:09,250): “Today has been a good day. We done some good laps and made progress with the front fork. We still have a lot of work to do but we are going in the right direction. I am feeling happier on the bike now and it feels more like my bike. But overall I am happy with today.”

I can’t wait to test again and have a couple of days later the first Grand Prix.”

26/03/2009Second day IRTA Test Jerez

This second day of the IRTA Test the DeGraaf Grand Prix team made a lot of progression. The weather was really good with a lot of sun and temperatures of 25 degrees. The British teenager Danny Webb was one and half second faster today and Swiss rider Randy Krummenacher manage to ride one second faster. The DeGraaf Grand Prix Team is at the right direction and expect to make more progression on the last test day tomorrow.

Danny Webb (14th, 1:48,665): “This was a good day for me and the team. We made a lot of progression and I have a better feeling with the bike. The engine is strong and we are going in the right direction with the suspension set-up. We still not on the set-up we want but we are getting there.”

25/03/2009First day IRTA Test Jerez

The official IRTA test at the Spanish circuit of Jerez de la started today. It was a hard day for the DeGraaf Grand Prix team. The riders Randy Krummenacher and Danny Webb rode a lot today and it was difficult for the team to find the right set-up. At the end of the day it went better but still not to our satisfaction. Randy Krummenacher ended the day at the 18th position and Danny Webb at the 19th position.

Danny Webb (19th, 1:50,244): “This was the first day of the three day test. It was an okay day but I’m not entirely satisfied yet. We still had a few problems in the morning. In the afternoon it started to get better and I felt I was getting back to my old self. We still need a lot more data to set-up the bike. I feel there is a lot of potential in the bike but we need to work to get the potential out of the bike by riding a lot of laps to get more data. This was only the first day and I’m confident for the next two days.”

16-03-2009Second test day Estoril Portugal

Second test day circuit Estoril Portugal DeGraaf Grand Prix Team With again high temperatures the DeGraaf Grand Prix Team has finished the second test day on the Portuguese Estoril circuit. DeGraaf GP riders Randy Krummenacher and Danny Webb manage to improve their lap times with over a second compare to the Sunday test. The team is searching for the perfect set-up but it will take time to get there because the bike is totally new including the different suspension. Tomorrow the team will use this last test day to find the right set-up.

Danny Webb: “Today was a better day than yesterday. We started with nearly the same lap times as Sunday and already in the second session I could improve my time with a second of yesterday. At the end of the morning I could improve my times constantly but in the afternoon I was a little bit stuck with the set-up of the suspension. Unfortunaly I had a little crash at the end of the day and we decided to call it the day. Tomorrow we want the find the right set-up of the suspension.”

17-03-2009Last day of test at Estoril

The First test of the DeGraaf Grand Prix Team is a fact. Today was the third and last day of the Estoril test. The weather circumstances were again good but their was much more wind than the days before. With this wind it was very difficult to improve lap times. British rider Danny Webb didn’t manage to improve his lap times and had some problems at the end of the day. Randy Krummenacher was able to improve his lap time with half a second. The DeGraaf Grand Prix Team looks back at a successful test and can’t wait to travel to the IRTA test from Wednesday 25 March until Friday 28 March at the Spanish Jerez track.

Danny Webb: “This wasn’t the best day of the test here at Estoril. We struggled in the morning with the set-up of the engine but at the end of the morning we had a good set-up. Unfortunaly the weather changed compare to the two days before. Their was a lot of wind today and it is hard to improve your lap time. In the afternoon it went better and we worked a lot on the suspension set-up. Two hours before the end of the day we had small engine problem and decided to call it the day. I’m quite happy with this test. The bike has a lot of potential. We still have five more days of testing and I can’t wait for next week to ride again during the official IRTA test at Jerez.”

Danny Webb: “Finally it feels nice to be back on the bike. With this great weather it was a very useful day of testing. The bike is completely new for me and for the team. From the moment I left pit-lane it felt good. We still have a lot of work to do before the light goes to green in Qatar. I’m satisfied about today and can’t wait for tomorrow.”

Teampresentation DeGraaf Grand Prix Team 2009

We had a pretty good season in 2008 and we showed the world that we can be very fast at some tracks. We had also some bad luck but still the team has the potential to win races. I really have the feeling that with this combination we have this year that we can battle for the championship. We have a great team with the right people at the right spot and a top of all we have a factory Aprilia RSA. I can’t wait to start the season but before the start of the season we will test at the Estoril track (15-17 March), the IRTA test at Jerez (25-27 March) and just before the first race in Qatar we will test 2 days (6-7 April) at this track. It’s going to be a great season and hopefully we can bring the World Title to England!”
